November 2000 I rode in Palo Duro Canyon State Park, 30 miles south of Amarillo. The canyon is said to be second only to the Grand Canyon in size. It is 102 miles long and 1000 ft deep. You can drive down into the Canyon and camp with your horse. It was the home of the Commache Indians. It is steeped in history. We only knew about the Canyon because of the beautiful young lady at the welcome center.
3-09-04 I drove through several towns and cities for the right sign. I liked the name Queen City, it's unusual. A young lady from the newspaper came out and did an article, she sent us several copies. The mayor Bobby Bowman and his wife Barbara were very helpful. We had time to chat over coffee, what nice folks.
